I came across this article on The Firearm Blog and started thinking about how feasable it would be to build a system like this. I started a project stub on the project wiki. If anyone is interested in contributing please feel free to email me and I’ll add you to teh wiki etc.

This is one of those things that I find really cool at a number of levels. It is a project headed by the MIT FabLab to set up wireless internet in the stan. The technology is open source and pretty low tech but effective and affordable. Setting up and maintaining communication systems in a battle space is key to winning a fight and the techniques used here could easily be modified and turned into rapidly deployable mesh networks that could be used by civilians in disaster areas, ad-hoc events and local skirmishes. Check out their project page and if you liek what they are doing help them out with a little donation.

Well maybe it isn’t autonomous quite yet but it’s a pretty cool start. If you have ever driven an ATV you know that these things can go almost anywhere.

Here is a pretty cool project. It’s the first DIY rail gun I have seen that actually puts out some power. Do not confuse it with a coil gun.
